If you’re looking for work, need to upgrade your skills, or want to change careers, America’s network of over 2,400 American Job Centers (AJCs) provides free employment and training services to workers and job seekers across the country.
American Job Centers offer career counseling and assessment, help with resume writing and job search, access to job listings and employer connections, skills training and certification programs, and referrals to education and apprenticeship programs. Many services are available in-person and online.
WIOA funds many AJC programs and provides additional intensive services — including occupational skills training for specific industries — for eligible adults, dislocated workers, and youth. Training can lead to recognized industry certifications in fields like healthcare, manufacturing, information technology, construction, and transportation.
If you lost your job due to international trade or competition, you may qualify for Trade Adjustment Assistance, which can pay for retraining, income support during training, job search assistance, and relocation allowances.
Registered apprenticeships combine on-the-job training with related instruction. Apprentices earn a wage while learning — with over 500,000 active apprentices nationwide across industries. Ask your AJC about apprenticeship openings in your area.
Be the first to know when new programs open, change, or have upcoming deadlines.
